Numerical Investigation of HSC Columns Retrofitted by CFRP Materials under Combined Load

Repairing and retrofitting old civil engineering structures based on reinforced concrete represents a challenge for societies all over the world. Environmental impacts such as corrosion natural disasters like earthquakes can considerably weaken those structures. Reinforced confinement technique using carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) is considered an innovative solution to strengthen damaged In this paper, numerical simulation was carried out evaluate impact of CFRP jacket confining composite material compressive strength ultimate strain confined concrete. A FE model developed, validated by comparing its results with available experimental measurements, finally assessed performing parametric study. Indeed, investigations had their purpose evaluation level (different number plies), namely without plies, one plie, three plies configuration, that were subjected different eccentric loading modes e=0, e=25 e=50 mm, in order assess interaction between combined load be represented flexural effect. The were, fact, good agreement data. addition, wrapping significant effect maximum eccentrically loaded columns compared concentrically increasing value 15% gain unconfined column.
